Thank you for coming to

How can I help you today?

Alys Bunce (RGN, PGCE, BSC Psych, MFTM RCPS(Glasg)
I began my travel health career in 2011 after working as a staff nurse in a busy emergency department in Manchester. Before qualifying as a nurse, I lectured in Psychology and hold a post-compulsory PGCE. Over the years my writing has been published across psychology, education, travel medicine and primary care journals.
I’ve been lucky enough to travel through South Africa, South America, Europe and South East Asia, and I love weaving academic, clinical and global perspectives into my teaching. I spent many happy years as Lead Travel Health Nurse and CQC-registered manager at the Manchester branch of Nomad Travel, and later became the Education Lead for the same company, before moving into freelance work.
These days - when I’m not negotiating snack choices with my two young children - I spend most of my time training primary care clinicians across the UK in immunisation, phlebotomy and travel health. I deliver talks a few times a year at large conferences - and if I'm not delivering, I'm usually there anyway soaking it all up!
I currently hold the Module 1 Lead role on the Diploma in Travel Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. I have some regular occupational health clients based in universities and police forces whom I love to visit annually for their bespoke immunisation and travel health updates. And I've been known to visit tropical medicine wards in acute settings to deliver a seminar or two as well.
I’m the creator of 'Train With Alys', the teaching platform, and the 'Alys's Classroom' resource hub that I (and sometimes others) use to deliver sessions. My aim is to make learning enjoyable and accessible to all. Can't wait to meet you!
